![]() The DC Multiverse, as currently mapped, is a complicated place.Īnd yes, you read that right. There’s also the Monitor Sphere, where the Monitors reside and conduct their oversight (and yes, there are more than one of them), the Source Wall, which contains everything in the Multiverse, and much more. Along with the 52 Earths, there exist several other realms where DC’s menagerie of gods and other supreme, immortal beings exist-think Jack Kirby’s New Gods, Wonder Woman’s Greek-inspired patrons, Lucifer Morningstar and his legions of Hell and Neil Gaiman’s Dream of the Endless. Each Earth shares a few similarities-for example, they all contain sentient, intelligent life, most often human-but other than that, they can be very different from each other. It’s changed a bit since it was introduced, but the current DC Multiverse states that there are 52 different Earths in existence all occupying the same space but vibrating at different frequencies. The Multiverse is essentially a storytelling device that exists within DC that ties a lot of the comics we’ve published over the past 80+ years together. The answers aren’t always so simple, but before we start getting into them, we should first explain what the Multiverse is for anyone out there who may be new to the concept. And while The CW miniseries filled in most of the broad strokes, we couldn’t blame anyone new to the idea for being a bit lost or at least having a few questions.įor example, how many Earths are in the Multiverse? Are they really infinite? Did the Crisis on Infinite Earths comic create the DC Multiverse? What’s the point of the Multiverse? And is the Multiverse we've seen on TV the same as the one in the comics? The idea of the DC Multiverse isn’t new, but at least until very recently, it also wasn’t well known outside of the comic book faithful. The CW’s recent “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event exposed more people than ever before to the concept of DC’s Multiverse-the expanse of differing “Earths," each with their own unique makeup of superheroes and villains.

A nippy little hoverbike called the Snowfox lets you get around, but as a whole the section feels undeveloped, an experiment not fully played out. Trudging through the snow brings its own concerns: temperature and predators being two primary issues you’ll need to deal with. At times it tries to subvert the appeal of exploring the fathoms by sending you onto the glacial shelves to pick through the ruins of various research facilities. But given the very similar route of progression through base modules and equipment upgrades, the fatigue can set in a little earlier for Below Zero. It’s true that all of this happened in Subnautica as well. And in the deepest caverns and hardest-to-find fissures, you know you’re going to either find a plot point that would advance the story, and maybe a new rare gem-but little else. New environments eventually become a mere checklist of materials, your senses soon dull to the new flora and fauna as you focus on hunting down minerals. The smaller but inventive nature of the vehicle makes it a tiny replica of the world: smaller and denser than the original, but still full of bizarre, wonderful aquatic creatures.Įven though stumbling on new biomes is as fantastic as ever, given the great sense of colour and atmosphere by the soundscape, it’s hard to get away from the fact that there isn’t the same sense of awe provided by Subnautica due to sheer repetitiveness. ![]() These include an aquarium that hoovers fish up, a fabricator segment, and a little dock you can hook your Prawn Suit onto. Gone are the nippy Seamoth and lumbering Cyclops from Subnautica in Below Zero, these are both replaced with the Seatruck, the little submersible train that could, which you can create individual modules for. These persistent issues aren’t that troublesome as the world is smaller this time around, but they introduce the same listless wandering that plagued Subnautica.Īs you’re scurrying to-and-fro to complete objectives, you’ll also want to build a vehicle for getting around. ![]() Similarly, progressing past some points will need you to have read or listened to the correct lore entry, or oriented yourself based on a static map to know where to go next. You nearly always need three fragments of a wrecked object to complete a research project, and they are not always easy to find. Both methods steer you towards hard and fast objectives, but like Subnautica, progress is often locked behind researching certain tools or vehicles or items. Already early on, Robin stumbles across the grizzled, cantankerous survivor Marguerit Maida (Lorelei King), and soon after ends up sharing her mind with the digital consciousness of one of the Architects, Al-An (Matthew Marsh).īoth characters give Below Zero a sense of narrative propulsion as well as literal direction: Al-an puts specific waypoints on your HUD, whilst Marguerit will give you instructions in relation to your location. This can be seen in how Below Zero focuses on cutting down the size of the world to expand on its narrative. Having a fully voiced protagonist, with an actual goal beyond survival, makes Below Zero a leaner experience than the original. A collision with a meteorite causes her to crash land in the arctic circle, thrusting you into the same loop of exploring for materials, information on PDAs, all whilst building structures and equipment to furnish deeper excursions, just like Ryley did in the previous game. Thankfully, my hesitations and doubts were mostly unfounded.īelow Zero’s setup is slightly different to the original. ![]() Early Access had given Unknown Worlds time to hone and refine the expansive world of Subnautica, and I was worried that a smaller amount of development time would get in the way. That said, it was with some hesitation that I booted up the new standalone campaign, Below Zero, because replicating the mood and runaway success of Subnautica is a big ask for any developer. Unsurprisingly I did love it, bar the frustrating lack of direction and end-game resource grind that sapped a lot of fun out of the last hour or two. The stage was well set for me to love Unknown Worlds’ Subnautica despite it being a survival game, one of my least favourite genres to come out from the last decade. ![]() It’s so good leaves my skin feeling hydrated and also stops my make up from looking cakey and makes a little bit dewy as well. Best RGB DDR5 RAMĬorsair's Dominator kits have always had premium good looks, and I think its DDR5 kits still look great. ![]() If you care about performance and less about bling, this is a DDR5 kit that's well worth a look. Remember, you would traditionally be looking at 3,600MHz DDR4 kits as relatively high-end just a year or so ago. At the time of writing it was one of the cheapest 2x16GB 6000MHz kits on the market, and that is a level of speed that is right at the top end of the market even today. The real strength of the Kingston Fury Beast kit is its value for money. That's likely just our particular sample though. It comes with SK Hynix ICs which means there should be some OC headroom on tap, however, our sample wasn't all that capable, with a stable 6400MHz being a struggle when we were testing it. The Fury Beast DDR5 memory modules have a black PCB with a low height aluminium heat spreader. If your PC is sitting under a desk, out of sight and mind, do you really need a lot of bling? ![]() Kingston's Fury Beast kit eschews flashy RGB and huge heat sinks in favour of a design that's subtle and discrete. If you're on a tight budget and have decided to leave DDR4 behind, grabbing a kit like this instead of a higher speed kit and diverting the money to a better CPU or GPU will deliver really tangible benefits. It's a great pairing for a B660 build and its low height means it's a lot easier to use with large air coolers compared to many kits on the market. It's not that much of an overclocking kit but if you don't mind upping the voltage a bit, we've had it happily purring along at 5200MHz in testing, which adds a bit extra to its already excellent value. The Corsair Vengeance DDR5-4800 kit isn't the fastest you'll come across but it's one of the best options for a budget DDR5 system right now.Īt 4800MHz it's not a speed demon by any means, though if you're using it with something like an i5 processor and an older or mid range GPU, you'd be lucky to notice any difference outside of memory sensitive benchmarks. The best DDR4 kits are still perfectly viable, but the early complaints around the high latency of DDR5 compared to DDR4 are quickly becoming moot. ![]() It's nice to see CAS latencies staying relatively low as speeds increase, though secondary timings are certainly much higher than those you'll find on slower kits. In fact, it's a downright bargain compared to the cost of premium DDR5 a year back, where prices of $500 / £500 / AU$1,000 or higher were commonplace. You'd expect memory at this speed to cost a bundle, and at $299 / £319 / AU$519, it certainly carries a price premium, but it's not that bad. When Intel's Alder Lake CPUs first launched, DDR5-6400 was about the maximum speed you could get, but forget that: DDR5-8000 kits are now on the market. It's now widely available, prices have dropped, and early BIOS niggles have been overcome. Just make sure you're motherboard can support DDR5 RAM.ĭDR5 has come a long way since it was launched. Some games and apps will benefit from the extra speed, while others won't see much of a difference, if any at all. That being said, as prices start to drop, you might want to consider spending a few extra bucks to go for DDR5-5600 instead of DDR5-4800. Now, we don't think it's a good idea to drop a ton of cash on RAM unless you've got a high-spec rig that can handle it. With 32GB, you'll be pretty much set for a while, especially if you're planning to play games like Diablo 4 that need a lot of memory to run smoothly. While you can grab yourself a 2x8GB kit, we reckon 2x16GB is a better fit for a gaming setup. If you're trying to save some cash for your next build, take a look at our suggestions for the best DDR4 RAM kits that offer solid performance without breaking the bank.ĭDR5 speeds can vary, ranging from 4800MHz all the way up to 7200MHz, and even beyond in the future. Our top pick for the best DDR5 RAM for gaming at the moment is the G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB, which delivers excellent performance for memory-hungry apps and games and is surprisingly affordable. Although DDR5 is still a bit pricey compared to DDR4, we've noticed that prices have started to come down lately. ![]() This is where you enable the alpha channel in the export settings. Since it’s not an iCloud account, I guess this excludes this explanation, doesn’t it? > I am talking about my 2nd account just so you get the full picture. I don’t think my phone is even aware that I have this account, and in any case it is NOT an iCloud account, just an Apple ID with CC info for iTunes. However, I only use this account in iTunes on the Mac to purchase music occasionally (log on, then back to my “main” Apple ID). I do have another “Apple ID” (with a credit card from another country). This same account/email/Apple ID is also my unique iCloud account. I bought the Mac and the iPhone Tapforms with the same “Apple ID” account. This “auto-pull, manual push sync” thingy really confuses the hell out of me…I guess I am missing the logic -) In any case, I had already tried: 2 or 3 steps appear at the top of the phone, for 2-3 seconds, but nothing else changes.īrendan, thanks for the detailed response! It will let you look at all the iCloud files generated by all the apps that you have on your iOS device that use iCloud. The only way I know of to look into that is to use the iExplorer app from. It would be interesting to see what’s in the mobile documents folder for Tap Forms on your iOS device. Or if you’re just syncing a small change. If your database is quite small, then most likely the progress bars won’t increase. But it really all depends on how much data you’re syncing too. It normally will increase when you’re syncing for the first time (or after doing the Reset iCloud Sync procedure and syncing again for the first time). That’s when you may or may not see the progress bar increasing. During the display of those messages, Tap Forms is simply gathering all the changes you’ve made since the last time you tapped the Sync button and generating a database file that contains just those changes.Īfter that happens, iCloud should kick in and upload the change file Tap Forms generated to Apple’s iCloud servers. It will happen sometime AFTER the messages in the status bar stop displaying. That will only happen on your iOS device when you tap on the Sync button on your iOS device. They will move only after some time when files are either being downloaded to Tap Forms from iCloud or you’re uploading files to iCloud from Tap Forms. The progress bars will mostly just sit at 0%. That’s a big indicator that something isn’t working right with iCloud Sync. When you look in the SyncDocuments directory on your Mac for the Tap Forms iCloud container, do you see just a single TFSyncDevice file? If so, then iCloud isn’t sending the files from your iOS device(s) to your Mac. So if you see the same kinds of troubles with iWork, then maybe you’re experiencing a similar issue. Tap Forms and iWork both use the Documents & Data iCloud sync service to do the syncing. Now, I’m not sure if that’s really the case for everyone, but that seemed to be the trouble for him. They contacted Apple Support and Apple said that the problem they were having was because they purchased the iWork apps with one Apple ID, but are trying to sync it with a different account that they use for iCloud. One of my customers today told me that they had troubles with iCloud sync in Tap Forms and also in Apple’s iWork applications. So, this is just my opinion, but I trust many others will come: PLEASE think about supporting tried, tested and cross-platform sync methods: wifi, dropbox, webdav for personal cloud solutions…or messaging pigeons for all I care -) – iCloud sync – which I had never needed – turns out to be exactly as read too often: unreliable, non-transparent for developers and users alike, capricious. – I still trust Tapform is “my” alternative for Bento, but I can’t use it yet. Sun and rain sensors can turn your awnings into self-operating shade and rain providers, even when you’re not home. Wind and motion sensors are adjustable and can retract an awning when either type detects dangerous winds too much for the retractable awning to handle. Motion sensors monitor the motion of the front bar. Installing a wind or motion sensor is a simple way to protect motorized retractable awnings. Anything above that is too much wind for most awnings to withstand. In addition, fabric-covered fixed frame (aka permanent) awnings must meet Miami-Dade County building code requirements and withstand 75 mph winds at which time the fabric must be removed from the fixed/stationary/permanent frame. For instance, retractable awnings and roof pergolas for windy areas like Miami-Dade County must meet Florida Building Codes. It’s important to note that awnings typically have to meet your vicinity’s building codes. Retractable fabric is a major advantage of a retractable awning vs a fixed/permanent one.Īdditionally, generally the higher the pergola wind rating, the greater the cost. You can extend the pergolas fabric after such hurricane-force winds stop. If winds are higher than Beaufort 10 you must retract your pergolas fabric. Although these retractable pergolas may withstand greater wind forces, flying debris can still cause damage to them. Retractable pergolas with frames receive higher ratings and can withstand wind speeds of 55-63 mph (Beaufort 10) when partially or fully extended and up to 150+ mph wind speeds when closed (retracted). There are similar products, like retractable roof pergolas. ![]() Motorized retractable awnings often use a wind sensor or motion sensor that automatically retracts the awning to prevent damage to the arms, fabric, and frame if the wind speed gets too high. These awnings permit some wind to escape out the sides while releasing wind pressure on the awning’s arms and fabric. The best awnings for windy areas are retractable with fabric attached at the front bar and a structure wall, soffit, eave, overhang, fascia, beam, or roof. When fully retracted (closed), some retractable awnings can withstand 100 mph winds, but there is no certified testing in the retractable awning industry for fully retracted (closed) awnings. Class 3 withstands sustained wind speeds of up to 25-31 mph (Beaufort 6).Class 2 withstands wind speeds to 19-24 mph (Beaufort 5).Class 1 withstands wind speeds up to 8-12 mph (Beaufort 3).Unrated or Class 0 either wasn’t tested or failed to withstand a sustained wind of 12 mph. There are four wind-rated classes of awnings: These sensors automatically roll up or retract awnings as wind speeds increase.Ī good rule of thumb: If you’re reading a magazine and the wind flips the pages for you, it’s time to retract your awning. Installing a wind or motion sensor (preferred) as soon as possible is also wise. When this happens, roll up/retract your awning immediately before the arms, fabric, and frame sustain damage. If the front of the awning starts to bounce a lot, it’s reaching dangerous wind speeds. If properly secured to a structure, the best retractable awnings rated for wind Class 2 (Beaufort 5) should be fine in steady wind speeds of 19 to 24 mph. Nothing might happen, but it could damage your retractable awning fabric, frame, and its support arms. The pressure from a 23 mph wind would be like having a 300-pound person sitting on your awning. The springs in these arms help keep your retractable awning extended and elevated. A self-supported retractable awning extends from a structure using spring-loaded aluminum or steel arms. How much wind is too much for an awning depends on:Ī retractable and self-supporting fabric spring-loaded arm awning responds to winds differently than a fixed/stationary or permanently supported fabric awning (also known as a canopy).
